another blower motor/fan prob.

I got back from a 2 week vacation and the 1st time I used my car (2000,3.5) none of the fan speeds for the defroster worked. All speeds worked fine before. Prior to vacation the defrost would make a slight noise when 1st started for the day, but only 1-2 times a week, and it was barely noticeable. I have the basic control setup, not the dual zone. I'll check the fuses tomorrow if it ever stops raining. What do you guys think? Blower motor or resistor? How much are these parts on average? What do you think I should try replacing first? Driving in the rain today sucked. I had to use a mini-99cent store-squeege to keep the inner windshield clear on my communte.

Until the experts come around....Does the fan work in any other position like the floor or vent setting?
