Question ZC head on a D16z block

I just want to know if one can install a ZC head on a D16Z block, and if so would there be a horsepower improvement over the stock head. The reason I ask the this is the local machine shop has one that has been port and polished already.

i see in your sig that youre saving for a b16b swap. why spend money on that? save your money and get the b16b. youll be much happier. the swap might give you a few extra horses but not enough to justify spending the money when it can go into getting a b16b

true. but i change my mind and just want the civic i got now to have a little ass in it but mainly as a show car. ya know air bags, all out stereo, kinda of a daily driver deal. but what i had in mind for the b16b was to build a hatchback and have the block and heads done ( got some friends in a machine shop ) and build something to go down the strip might even go with a 1.8 LS block and a b18c5 head. but dunno yet i just wanted to know if the ZC would bolt up on a D16y8 block. but if it didn't i was just goin to cam it.

Power is in the head... I dont think you would find any benefit from slapping a ZC head onto a D16z6 - and for some reason I think it might not work because theres a first gen and second gen style D series - it will probably work on the a6, which is the OLDER (88-91) Si motor though... but again, I dont realyl see any benefit.

I agree with Sparq. I do see a power gain the othe rway around though there are a few people that do that also. Putting on a VTEC Z6 head on a ZC block.

You can't,the head bolts are in different spots. But on that note there are SOHC ZC's and no there would be no gain,if anything you'd lose a lot of power.
