Short RAM Cai.. winter friendly?

Ive got one on the way. Ohio winters can be below 0 maybe 4 days a year. Some people have told me that im gonna wanna put the stock back on for the winters and wait till spring to put it on at all.

Whats the verdict?

Re: Short RAM Cai.. winter friendly?

Hey there, I live in MD and it can get very cold here too. I had my intake in now for about a week. The warmer days it was running fine but two days ago it was like 12 degrees out and my car had a slugish feeling. It didn't bug me much because I wasen't in a rush or anything..hehe. But to some people it might be annoying. At first I was like "Now what the Heck is the problem!" But when I read peoples other comments on this issue It was clear I'm not the only one with the problem. Hope this helped some
Got any photos of you car btw?

Re: Short RAM Cai.. winter friendly?

Hmm interesting. I posted pics of my ride in the "rides and selves pt. 2" thread. Check it out if youd like. Anyone else with some clarification for me?

Re: Short RAM Cai.. winter friendly?

well back in the day (carbuerater) warm air going into engine was better than cccccold air. IMO I would go back to stock air intake if temps get too cool ,save the CAI for summer

Re: Short RAM Cai.. winter friendly?

short ram is not cold air, it is just a tube with a filter on it to replace the restricting stock air box. cold air would be if it went down to behind the bumper and yeah i would put stock back on if it truly was cold air, but since it is just sitting in the engine bay it is going to get the same cold air that the stock box would so its no big deal and it will warm up with the engine.

if it looks like mine your fine...

Re: Short RAM Cai.. winter friendly?

I've had mine on all winter in south central PA. I haven't had any problems. But if you are worried, before you go anywhere after its been sitting cold for awhile go start it up for about 10 minutes idle and then drive.

Re: Short RAM Cai.. winter friendly?

Ya, like many have said, you have nothing to worry about in the winter especially if you have a short ram (WAI).

if its a short ram, thats classified as a warm air intake since it sucks up alot of the heat coming off of the engine. just thought id tell you that.
