04 silverado wiper blade

I have a 2004 silverado. there is a spring that holds the wiper blade onto the glass. I was removing the snow one day and pulled the wiper too far out and the spring unhooked. There is a little C shaped hook that attaches the spring to the base of the wiper assembly. Anybody know how to get it hooked back on? Is there a tool for loosening the tension on a spring so I can hook it on. Or could I unbolt the whole arm, get it together and put it back in one peice?

remove the wiper arm and if possible place in a vice to hold. then use a strong wire like s/steel 14guage and make a loop that will hook to c at spring end then pull spring over bar that catches the spring. use saftey glasses as things can go flying.......

spray wd40 on end of shaft and pull/slide off shaft.splines are on the shaft and arm hole to lock in proper position. a small puller or large screwdriver and a piece of wood as a leverage point to push off usually works.

A battery terminal puller (for top post) works great. You will probably have to thread the nut back on so the screw doesn't slip off the stud.

If appearance isn't a concern, gently smack the sides of the arm with a brass hammer.
