shutting off randomly? power steering also...

So I am having 2 problems with my Civic, I dont know if they are related or not.

1st: power steering fluid leaked INTO the cabin through the steering column when I had the front on jack stands. since then my power steering pump makes a whirring noise when I turn the wheel, and I am constantly leaking power steering fluid, until the level is really low, and it just stays there. Goodyear said my power steering belt is cracking...

2nd: This is really weird, happened on 2 occassions:
I'm driving, check engine light comes on, car shuts off 2 seconds later.
I start it back up in a couple minutes, runs fine with the CE light on.
I get to work, come back after work and the CE light is still on, runs fine.
Next morning, I start it, CE light turns off after 2 minutes of driving, car runs fine after that.
These incidents were about a month apart.
I drive a Honda Civic 2001 LX 2dr, all stock except for intake.
help please!
