Cool Air Blows Out When I Idle

It's cold up here ( about 2 degrees) and I have a heater, but the heat only seems to blow when I am in motion or accelarating . When I come to a stop the air seems to turn a bit cool. My car is a 96 cav Z-24. Anyone know what's up?

Re: Cool Air Blows Out When I Idle

i have the same problem with my 88 yota. just reading through forums here i've learned it's possibly my(and possibly yours) heating core is blocked up. check both hoses to see if they're both hot, if so, it's blocked. also could be a water pump, thermostat, or you need a radiator flush., look up heater blows cold to see what i saw.

I agree, check out the hoses running into the heater core. Sounds like blockage to me with only getting heat when the pump is having to spin faster to circulate the coolant.
