i am getting a wobbling effect when turning to the right only on the free way, it would appear tha my control arm bushings are no more, i am semi skilled as a mechanic but still learning, is this a job i should get into in my driveway? and does my diagnosis sound correct? i have some serious play in the bushings.help

There should be no play in the bushings. If you force them with a prybar, they should allow very little movement.

I believe the bushings are part of the lower A-arm. It's not a very hard job to do. The most difficult part will be the balljoint removal. Soak the top stud/nut in penetrating oil prior to beginning. Sometimes you can get the nut off the balljoint with an open end wrench and some patience. Sometimes you have to take the axleshaft out and use a socket. Be careful not to knock the balljoint out of the steering knuckle until the nut is loose, you want it in there to keep the stud from turning. Once it comes out, you can't get it tight enough to stay in for the rest of the removal (tapered fit). An impact wrench is very helpful, IMO buying one just for this job would be worth it. I would replace the balljoint, even if it seems ok. Check the tie rod ends so you can replace them while apart, if needed. There should be just two bolts holding it to the frame, and the nut holding the balljoint to the steering knuckle.
