Question 1999 kia sportage will not start

HAving problems with my kia,will not start, seems like it is'nt getting any fire.
HAd battery charged, when I turn the switch it doesn't do anything. I think it may be the starter, and if it is the starter, where is it located on a 1999 Kia Sportage, PLEASE HELP!!!! give me some info.......

Check the negative or ground wire in your battery and try to tightened it.

i did that all the thing in the car comes on like the light and all that but the engine will not turn.......

Check fuse of the starter, if its good, then your starter needs to be replaced or rebuild...

INdeed it can be the starter itself but historically, Sportage starter failure is rare . YOu must first establish if 12v reaches the starter solenoid coil: there are several places where the circuit can be cut: transmission/clutch switch is one. 40A/80A fuse (circuit varies with year). Failed ignition switch is another. By the way, is it a manual or an automatic ?
DO you hear the starter solenoid "click" ?
TUrn headlights ON: At the moment you turn the ignition key to START, will the headlight fade OFF? (this to test battery connections: bad connecetion can keep lights and instruments ON but when trying to start they all go off)
