97 Dakota Speaker Size
On a 97 Dakota Club Cab with stock stereo & speakers (it does not have the infinity stereo option); what is my speaker size? I've been searching online & I'm coming up with 2 different sizes. Those sizes are 6 1/2 & 6 3/4" round for the front & rear. If I were to replace them with 6 1/2" & the stocks are 6 3/4"; or if I were to replace them with 6 3/4" and the stocks turn out to be 6 1/2" can I install either size without modifcations or adapter plate?

Re: 97 Dakota Speaker Size
Try Crutchfield's online info...
http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/a...r%2fMyCar.aspx Select your vehicle and it will give you all the sizes that will fit into the dash and speaker openings.

Re: 97 Dakota Speaker Size
Thanks for advice...however they are one of the websites that said 6 3/4", along with one other, than i have 3 sites saying 6 1/2", so thats whats fucked up is multiple sites are showing different a different size; and I know all 4 speakers are the same size.

Re: 97 Dakota Speaker Size
I hear you, and been there before. IMO, I trust Crutchfield more than any other site. I've ordered smaller speakers before that were said to fit, but when they arrived, they had included adapter rings...when I could have just bought larger ones in the first place!
Also, sometimes the limit isn't the diameter but the depth into the door pocket. Some websites may just translate that into a smaller diameter. I'd go with the biggest you can find that will fit...diameter and depth...and sound great. You may actually end up with smaller ones that sound better. That's where a brick-n-mortar store comes in handy...HANDS ON TESTING. The only real way to be sure? Yank the panel off and measure.
