random question
has anyone ever replaced all the hoses and vaccum lines in a 1987 or similar caprice? and if you did how much did this cost and how long did it take, i'm just seeing if anyone has done this. thanks

I did it on my '88 back in 2002. It cost about $15 or so, and took an hour or so.
This includes the big line to the purge canister and this represented the bulk of the cost.

Key is to do only one line at a time. That way you don't get anything going to the wrong place.

Yes, I forgot to mention that - do them one at a time. Or you will be spending more than an hour troubleshooting why nothing works right!

my car is in the shop getting some rust removed but when i get it back i am going to do this. most of the lines arent in great condition.

if the 87 you have is TBI and not carb then its pretty basic and there really isnt very much at all to replace
if its carb then you will be at it for a long time no need to replace hoses that are not rotted or broken dont fix what isnt broken leave well enough alone save yourself headache

I've been doing mine as needed. The trick is not to break the other lines and fittings while you are fixing just one. Lines are one thing, but the fittings are sometimes hard to match up. and you KNOW they're more apt to break off INSIDE something.
