Drive shaft play

I recently checked the drive shafts on my 2002 overland and found slight play in the front. The rear has absolutley none so I was wondering if thats normal. I get an intermittent clunk usually when the vehicle has not warm up when I come to a near stop. I also notice it more going down a grade before coming to a stop. It almost feels like its slamming into a lower gear. Any suggestion would be appreciated Thanx!

Does it sound like what folks are describing in this post? If it does, see post #6 -- dry slip yoke on the rear driveshaft.

Yah sort of but I can't really tell if it's the front or back or both. The fact that theres no play in the rear and slight play in the front has me kind of wondering if thats normal. I will get the splines greased and go from there I guess. Thanks for the reply
