Getting my Geo's windows tinted.

Hey everyone! This next Tuesday I'm getting my rear three windows tinted at 20% (any darker than that I wouldn't be able to see out of them at night), and getting an eyebrow tint done on the windshield (top 3-4" of windshield).

Anyway, I will surely take pics when it's all done! Take care everyone!

Going to make your rearview mirror near worthless, but since you're not getting the side windows done it shouldn't be a problem. I had them all done to 20% and it's too much at night as all mirrors are very hard to see. Don't get the door windows darker than 40% and you should be fine.

Could always do what the guy that owned mine before me. He painted, yes painted the back side windows BLACK!!! Can't see a damn thing and with an xfi I don't have a passenger mirror.

Well should I do my back three windows at 35% instead of 20%? I had a Ford Festiva previous to having a Geo, and had the back three at 20% and was able to see out of them just fine at night. Is there a difference with Geo windows? I wouldn't think so....Anyway, 35% or 20% for the back three?

If you're not getting the door windows done you should be fine as your side mirrors will still look normal. Hard for anyone to say what is best for you, we all have different eyesight and traffic conditions. I'm 50 years old and drive where traffic is cutthroat, a turn signal is a sign of weakness causing the guy behind you to speed up and fill the spot. Your own experience with the same level of tint should be a better guide than my advice.

Does the higher number mean that it is a lighter tint or a darker one?

% refers to the amount of light allowed through, so a higher number is less tint. Limousine black is 5%, most states allow 40% or so but it varies a lot, factory tint is probably 80%.

Just to follow up on this thread, I got the back three windows tinted at 20%, with an eyebrow on the windshield that is also 20%. I haven't taken any pics yet, but I will within the next couple of days...possibly as early as tomorrow morning.

After about a couple years of searching, I finally found my "dream car" a straight 96 metro, this past monday. I also wanted to get my windows tinted right away. At first I was going to go with a 5% rear 15% front tint, but thinking about all the night driving I do, I ended up getting a 15% rear and 35% front.
I have NO problems seeing out at night. Hope that helps.

thanks for sharing. that turned out good. dark but not too dark. summer is practically here already in Texas and i am looking to get mine done also. what level tint did you settle on, 20%?

20% back three. I can easily see out of them at night, even if there's no light around anywhere.
