engine block heater for an old guy (1994)

I am looking for an engine block heater for a 1994 GC, does anyone know where I can get that? The dealer only carries 1997 and up, would that work since it is the same I6 engine?

Does anyone have an opinion on engine block heaters?

Re: engine block heater for an old guy (1994)

There are after-market heaters that can be installed onto the oil pan really easily. You can also get one that connects to the radiator. I like the idea of an engine block heater if it's less than about 20 degrees F outside because it's easier on your engine if the engine is warmer when starting. It's also comfortable having the vehicle heat warm from the start (instead of waiting 10 minutes for it to warm up).

I have magnetic one that I stick on the pan when it's really freezing outside. Here's one at JCwhitney.com (you can probably find these at Wal-Mart or auto parts stores too):

I took off the little handle and added a 2-foot long piece of wood so I can just reach under and stick it on without crawling under the car (don't drive with this on or you might loose it).

Here's one that sticks onto the pan:

They also have one that hooks into the radiator hoses:

Enjoy winter!
