Angry 94 Z28 issues...

alrighty...
my camaro is a great running car, purrs like one angry kitty... but i have one issue which is making my life difficult...
when i started up the maro.. obviously it was cold.. and my oil pressure gauge was right in the middle at idle... no problems so far... because my camaro had a dead battery i was giving it some gas, then letting it idle for a bit and just doing an overall check...
the car was running for about a half hour and after a few revvs, the oil pressure gauge was hovering just above the 0 at idle, and when i gave it some gas it would go up one notch and then when i let off, it would go right back to just above 0
now.. as i'm in the car revving it through this time.. i see the needle slowly go lower and lower with every rev
the only thing i can think of (with limited knowledge) is an oil pump going bad or a head gasket.... again.. that is with very limited knowledge

any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks,
TJ

the oil pump its really easy to change it took me a few hours to do it you just have to raise the engine a few inches and remove the cran cover and there you find the pump

it's good to know that it can be done on a lazy sunday afternoon...

i went out today and i had the same issue with the car... when it warmed up (a half hour later) the oil pressure hovered just above the 0 at idle and went up when revved to about the first notch, then goes right back down to just above the 0.... now... i also noticed that the heat gauge was slowly inching it's way up into the danger zone

Re: 94 Z28 issues...

easy first check the oil cap on the valve cover, if it looks like cofee color you problaly have mixed oil and water, that a f...... up engine, but dont go so far when the car its cold remove the radiator cap and star the engine if the water goes out of the radiator you should have a bad head gasket and if you say that the temperature goes up the gasket sould be the problem, I'll sugest you to stop using the car until you found out what is it cuz if keep overheading it or running it with out the sugestet oil pressure you could lose your engine and it will not be cheap to rebuild it

ok.. i checked the oil cap.. and it's perfect... still looks almost new (and i know for a fact it's never been replaced) so no water in with the oil...
now.. the radiator cap doesn't want to come off, so i tried pullin off the cap to where you add coolant and there was nothing there... do i need to pull off the cap right on the radiator? because that rat bastard did NOT want to come off...

Re: 94 Z28 issues...

thats right you have to take the cap out, with the car cold force the cap down, and twist it to the left, it has to come out but dont do it if the engine has been running
