NO HEAT! 2000 Windstar with no front heat
First off, I want to thank everyone who is willing to help me out!
My mother has a 2000 Ford Windstar and about 2 months ago, the heat went out, clicking noise behind the dash and me being the mechanic of the family, found out it was the blend door motor, got the motor, replaced it, problem fixed till about a week ago. The heat no longer works AGAIN, I flushed the radiator ))because it needed it badly(( took the dash apart again to see what I could find. 1) the blend door motor still turns and works fine 2) the square drive on the motor is still intacted as is the female square end of the door- I saw on this site some others had that square part broken soo the motor would not open and close the door 3) i also cut a piece of wood the size of the square on the door and put it in the socket to see if the door turned freely, and it did soo here i am, pleading for any help i can get from here, im not really sure what else i can do other than take it to the evil dealer! P.S. the heat in the rear gets niice and hot in like 2 mins from starting like its supposed to, so that would rule out the thermostat correct?? THANKS TO ANYONE WHO CAN HELP! |

Re: NO HEAT! 2000 Windstar with no front heat
Congrats for doing so well so far. You may have a broken blend door. There are several posts on this subject in this forum and possibly in the Taurus (Ican't remember)as they are similar and that's one of three forums that I follow. Use "Search this forum" just above your post to search only Win. posts for blend door, heat, no heat, front heat,... I have only had to do the motor myself on my taurus, so I can only pass on that there are posts that cover your problem here that get into your latest development. My understanding is the door gets forced too much by the motor and breaks and/or the gear teeth in the motor box strip, as you found. There should be some posts that detail the repair that have pictures. I have read other posts that do some of the repair differently that sound easier and are more clever than the more common method. I think the common approach involves cutting into the vent box to get to the broken door and the clever approach didn't. Either way avoids having to remove the ventilation assembly, which requires removing the entire dash assembly. UGHHHH
