check engine light

ok this morning my check engine light came on my trans is still slipping i got a new one but i have to install it but now the check engine light came on and it goes out when it is lite up its yellow and it will also light orange color it wont start when the light is on but does when its not lite idont have enough money for a dioagnostic tool so where is the jumper on a 1989 honda prelude 2.0 si so i can read light patturns it may be the reason my trans is acting up and i hope it is please help
