Angry 97 Dodge Caravan Radio Won't Shut Off!!

Hello, My 97 Dodge Caravan radio won't shut off. When i turn off the ignition the radios clock is still on but everything on the radio is frozen like it's locked up. I can't adjust the time or anything on the radio. If i disconnect the battery cable & reconnect it the radio works fine & it shut's off when i turn off the ignition but then later on it will do the same thing. I even pulled the fuse for the radio & it still stayed on! Is there an easy fix for this instead of disconnecting the battery cable & connecting it again?

Thanks,
Scott

Re: 97 Dodge Caravan Radio Won't Shut Off!!

Hello again!

I heard that if you disconnect the neg. battery terminal that it will reset the radio. I tried that & it works so far but sometimes it takes a while to act up. The funny thing is that it still remembered my presets when i connected the battery terminal again. Any other ideas if this happens again?

Thanks,
Scott

When it appears to stay on, have you tried wiggling the ignition switch to see if that has any effect?

Cheap components, poor design, sloppy installation, lackluster quality control, skimpy maintenance training, the old "thats good enough attitude". Unforunately, Chrysler doesn't have a monopoly on those. On the flip side, there are thousands of Chrysler Corp minivans on the road that have few problems. You tell me.

Re: 97 Dodge Caravan Radio Won't Shut Off!!

Don't have an answer. I do have a 97 GC and the FM & CD play great always. But the AM almost never works....acts like it's not getting any signal, but I've checked the antenna and it's fine..on a very rare occasion the AM will come in and work great for 20 minutes. then it cuts out. When it cust out there is no sound at all..no static nothing..

Any ideas?
