COMPLETE: 1965 SCCA Trans-Am Mustang

As I may have mentioned in the past, I'm a bit of a racing sim freak, and I've lately been obsessed with a mod for GTR2 called Power and Glory. This converts many of the classic 60s and 70s touring cars from GT Legends to GTR2, and my favourite car to toss around the racetrack is easily the '65 Mustang. It inspired me to throw together this build real quick. I wanna stress, this was a quick, low detail build, I even glued the hood in place and kept the engine for another project. I just wanted to get the look and feel of a mid-60s Trans-Am racer. As the series progressed from 1967 onward, the cars got more and more wild, but the first few years, these cars were VERY stock. As you can see, I have pretty tall tires on stock steel wheels, and a stock ride height, which is exactly how the car would've been raced by a privateer.

Cool little racer, I'd love to do a model like this.

He he, makes me want to hop right in and thrash the hell out of it!!! Great simple build and a good choice. Glad you built one for yourself for once.

Aha. Another GTR2 player...
This is indeed a nice build. And I never heard about the this mod. But I prefer the modern racers anyway...

Nice! I think that looks great, similar to the ones that used to race in the UK British Touring Car championship at the time, against Mini Coopers amongst others!

Yup, they're in the same class in GTR2, along with the Cortina and the Falcon.

thats a quick "thrown together" job? I spent months when I was a teen trying to build a perfect model car and didn't get close to being that good. I enjoy seen all models on AF, I haven't seen a bad one yet.

Also, here's the car in the game that inspired this build:

GTR2 is awesome. I get "stuck" playing it for hours. Do you have a link for that hack? Have you tried the WTCC '07 game? Dare I say, better that GTR2 (at least as good, worst case)?

Nice model, too, BTW.

I don't bother with Race07 because modders have ported over half the cars from it to GTR2 already, and the rest will come soon. It has identical physics and only slightly better graphics. I'd rather just have one game with all the cars.

The Power and Glory mod can be found at nogrip racing (google it) like every other mod for the game. If you have any interest in participating, I'm in the process of organizing an amateur league that'll race one a week. PM me if you want.
