Having Intake installed

I am having my intake installed tomorrow..Is there anything I need to know before I put it on and is there anything I need to tell the mechanic?

Iv'e heard that some people have issues with the computer not reading the intake right or that it makes your car actually slower. Just need some feedback before it's put on.

Thanks alot.

Re: Having Intake installed

are you seriously taking your car to a mechanic to have them do a 7 minute intake install?? how much are they charging you?

on your engine you wont lose any power, you also wont gain any, but you wont lose any, your engine bay will be just a tad bit more shinier (assuming its chrome)

Re: Having Intake installed

its pretty straight forward, as long as you have the correct one for your year, engine and model you should be fine.

I put mine in last summer, it doesnt make any more noticible horse power but it sounds really nice and makes the engine look nice and shiny.

But i noticed its using more gas now that its winter here in Canada, my mechanic said i should remove it during winter as its pulling in air thats too cold so the computer senses it and uses more gas?? i dunno.. but im not taking it out.

Re: Having Intake installed

I would do it for free if someone bought me dinner sometime. I'm a cheap date and order off the salad menu ever since i lost all my weight..... lol.

Christina, if you told me what engine was in your car i could do a write up for you if you didn't want to pay that money to have someone do it. You'd be doing it yourself and learning more about your car. Just lemme know hun.

lol, aww how sweet. I would buy you dinner. Well all I know about the engine is it's 2.2L. If you need more info let me know and I'll go check.
The weather outside right now is YUCK! It's snowing here in MD. I was suppose to take it to the shop today but it's coming down purdy hard. Well thankyou for offering a write up, I think I would feel pretty good If I did it myself..hehe.

Thankyou,
Christina
