Full time 4x4 front knuckles and Crankshaft Sensor

Ok I know 4x4 makes steering a little difficult but when I have to turn sharp I of course slow WAAAAAAY down, but when I turn it sounds awful! Are there grease serts on the front knuckles or could the joints be bad?

Also Where is the Crankshaft sensor located, and how do i test functionality?

The first thing I'd do is check the front end oil. If you replace it use synthetic oil.

Re: Full time 4x4 front knuckles and Crankshaft Sensor

Your front wheels shouldn't bind when making sharp turns. Your Quadra-Trac transfer case should only lock into 4wd when your rear wheels start to slip/spin and when they do have traction the case should be in 2WD mode and take sharp turns as well as a RWD car. This is common vicious coupler failure of the Quadra-Trac case. In the long run it eats up your front tires and universal joints, not to mention the poor gas mileage.

Re: Full time 4x4 front knuckles and Crankshaft Sensor

Is this a thing that is happening in te transfer case?
Would this explain my difficulty shifting to low-range?
When I try to shift to low range I put it in neutral, shift quickly from full time 4 high straight back to 4 low. I wait then when I shift into gear (either Drive or 1st) It will sometimes catch then when I give it throttle it will pop the 4x4 selector forward slightly and grind horribly, without moving. ????
