2001 Corolla clutch

My 2001 corolla needs a new clutch and I think that is a little too big of a job for me to handle. The toyota dealership quoted me $1000 for the job. I haven't called any other places yet. Anyone know how much this repair should approximatly be?

Thanks

Re: 2001 Corolla clutch

the dealer will charge more as they get $85.00 an hour and they get paid breaks too. most shops charge at least $500.00 for a clutch replacement on front wheel drive. get in the phone book and call around .

Re: 2001 Corolla clutch

I went to a local shop and the mechanic got a rebuld kit. With labor and parts it was a little over $600. Not bad considering the Dealership wanted $1000.
