I keep hearing that I need to get a spare clutch cable... what fails?

Which part brakes... it looks like a pretty simple system to me. Anyone know which one to get?

Anyone elses "firewall" flex slightly when they depress their stiff-ass clutch?

Cable can fail two different ways. It can freeze up in the housing or the cable will brake. The cable looks like a standard fox body cable. I have not looked but there may be a part number in the parts list.

That's exactly what I was told. The cable is from a Mustang. Thanks for looking up the P/N.

What's the PN? Does this setup have a clutch quadrant? I remeber a big thing w/ my mustang back in the day was upgrading to a metal one vs. the plastic stocker.

Hi Cobra4B..funny you should ask about the clutch cable..yours was replaced at Roebling Road this past November!! We got the part off the shelf at the local parts place. Thats me in your car in your signature pic.

We do have the hydraulic conversions that were taken off the cars. The mechanics at Panoz actually liked the hydraulic clutches more than the cable ones.

These include both master and slave cylinders and the line..special to Panoz owners $100 a set. Pedal pressure is a bit less with the hydraulic clutch.

More stuff coming soon..

Best wishes

^ Hey James... actually we have #15, that's #11, but I liked the pic so I stole it!

Hayes told us that the other one broke the cable etc, but I don't think the one I have has.

Welcome aboard

Re: I keep hearing that I need to get a spare clutch cable... what fails?

If the clutch cables are the same as Mustang cables, they also have a tendency to stretch. The clutch will engage closer and closer to the floor and then at some point, it will grind going into gears. The cables you get at Autozone or Pep Boys are less expensive but stretch more easily, so stay with OEM.

The #38 Sebring car has what appears to be a clutch quadrant near the master cylinder. Anyone else have this? Maybe that is what the Panoz guy was talking about? Unfortunately the car is 500 miles away, so I cant check to be sure. I also thought I saw a bracket on the firewall so the pressure wasnt causing the firewall to flex.
