I'm a waxer at heart and can't leave anything alone... fixing ugly.
This is ugly.
![]() So I set about fixing it while I was pouring over the motor and checking everything. Cleaned the parts with dawn, sanded with 320, washed again, then wiped down w/ final klean wearing rubber gloves. ![]() ![]() Used self etching primer on the VCs and air filter shield, have had great success with it on my Corvette parts. The Manifold has a good coat of paint so no need. ![]() Primed with 1200 degree stuff ![]() Will update once I sand w/ 1000 and spray the gloss black 500 degree engine enamel.

Lookin' good. Black valve covers and intake manifold will look cool!
My motor needs some cleaning and beautification too, but it's lower on the list. I was thinking of going to a Trick Flow intake and a 75mm throttle body to help the top end breath a bit better. Gary Jones suggests pulling the EFI alltogether and go to a 650 cfm carb. He thinks that 20 hp could be found, and it cleans up the top of the engine bay nicely. I'm torn on what option would be best. Not trying to hi-jack the thread.....

^ After really pouring over my motor I have no desire to go carb'd. All the misc BS is deleted from the motor so the fuel injection is very simple, and it's what I know.
The tenative plans are to run the car this year as is, then build a 331 this winter when I re-fresh the motor and do the works.

Got my EGR delete plate in today
![]() Painted the manifold and valve covers. Not perfect as I painted them in low 30 degree weather, but plenty good for a race car. ![]()

NICE!!!
Cleans up the engine bay very well. Good job. The EGR blank-off plate is a good thing. I'm going into the shop tomorrow to make one for my intake.
