obd1 question

hey im converting my mini me to 0bd1 now and had a few questions. ok the setup is zc black y8 head and y8 manifold. with the y8 manifold i am missing the idle air control valve. can i use on off of the z6 manifold or does it have to be the y8 iac. also what throttle body should i be using i dont have one except the zc tb. also with the injectors do they have to be rewired using diffrent clips and do they still use a resistor box. thanks Paul

Re: obd1 question

If they are the stock y8 injectors then they are saturated and do not use a resistor box. The IAC should be ok, and you can use pretty much any throttle body made by honda..id recommend a b series if you can get one or the h22 ones, do a search and you can find all the sizes listed on one page.

Re: obd1 question

Whichever one is bigger, but if you don't plan on making more than 300 HP, I wouldn't worry too much about having a huge TB.. you can google the sizes, the only diff besides bore size is the throttle cam diameter and pull angle.

Bore size is the only part to pay attention to. Bigger bore == more airflow, as long as you port match the intake for it..

Isn't the Y8 mani the stupid looking one that has the TB standing up straight?

Re: obd1 question

No, the y8 mani is the best flowing d series IM available. It looks like a big bloated log, but does not stand upright.

Re: obd1 question

I think the only different one is the z6.

Re: obd1 question

Well you could always use a thin piece of metal and drill the holes like an adapter plate.. or cut the ears off and match up as many holes as you can.

Re: obd1 question

take a piece of thin aluminum, like 1/16" thick, and make an adapter plate. the Cam engages the dizzy by a 1/4" or better, so you'll be fine there.

Either that, or sell that one and get any other dizz that will fit.

You could also RMA it and get the right one, if you don't mind paying shipping and restocking fees... it's easier to make the adapter tho, and nice to have for the future, when you get the right one and find someone else that made the same mistake..

There actually used to be a guy selling milled aluminum plates to adapt any dizz to any head, including Z6-other on eBay, but I don't think he's on there anymore.

I've made a plate for a 'teggy dizz to fit a B2 head before, used some 20g sheet metal and a couple machine screws w/ nuts, to attach the dizz to the plate, then used the dizz bolts to bolt the plate to the head.. added benefit, you can set it up for more timing play if you want.
