fuel pump circuit 96 jimmy

i have two connections at the fuel pump one has 3 wires and is flat , i think it is for the fuel level sender, the other has 4 wires in a square , a red, gray, two black wires, with the key on engine not running after the first 2 second i have a resistence of .06 between the black wires, i have 8.88 volts between red to gray and between the gray and black, and 5 volts and sending unit. i was wonder if i should have volts after the first 2 sec. why it is 8.88 volts, i could check the volts right when the key is turned on, volts at fuse 11.5 and at relay 11.5 -also i not sure if it is the right relay in the glove box all the way to the left, the one in the middle shows no volts when the key is on , what should the resistance of the moter be? lots more questions running late thankyou

Re: fuel pump circuit 96 jimmy

The 3 wire plug in is for pressure sensor.
The 4 wire plug is for fuel pump and fuel level sending unit.

The gray wire is the 12 volt power feed to fuel pump.
And one of the black wires is fuel pump ground and other black is fuel level sensor ground.
Check for good ground on both black wires,

You should have good 12-13 volts on gray fuel pump feed wire from relay all of the way back to fuel pump..
With Key on 2 second prime.
Or with relay or fuel pump test terminal jumpered

If not go to fuel pump relay and check voltage out of relay on gray fuel pump feed wire and also fo good 12 volt power into relay.
There should be a test lead at relay area for feeding 12 volts to fuel pump or for jumping it.
But if jumping it use a fused jumper wire.

Do not know motor resistance but check the amp draw on it.
After you get 12 volt power to it.
Also try unpluging the fuel puump plug in and see if voltage comes up.
You may have a shorted fuel pump.
Does the fuel pump run any or pump pressure?
