Should I....

I have a 98 malibu 3.1L last time one of the pistons was tapping Before I notice the oil pan was broken also the car would not crank. Should I change the engine block or should I just change the piston and the piston rod. The thing Is that the head I just had them fix so change the motor is out of the question.
