Freebie Mod question

Newbie here with a '99 Blazer 4.3L and am getting ready to install a K&N high flow air filter and was wondering what I might be able to do to the TB or TB plate(and how to do it) while I got it open before attaching the new filter. Also, how do I "disable" the EGR valve and is it a worthwhile mod? What can I do to the MAF sensor/screen to improve performance before attaching the new high flow K&N system? Thanks for the advice and info.

Re: Freebie Mod question

Disableing the egr will actually hurt your performance unless you use a custom computer tune to tell the ECU to ignor the EGR so leave that alone. Removing the MAF screen is not really worth it unless you are using forced induction. The screen is there to protect the sensor and removing it on a mostly stock motor will only yield a very minimal gain. As for the Throttle plate mod, that will help performance a bit. To do that, remove the plate from the TB (remove the two torx screws, rotate to WOT, pull the plate straight up), cut off the half moon shaped diffusor on the underside, and reinstall the plate into the TB.
