Actually I would go with a Pioneer head unit and speakers. Pioneer makes speakers that fit in the funny shaped holes a lot of manufacturers have.
Just from personal experience, and not to dis. the previous poster, I have had real bad luck with Sony audio products. |

I’m sorry; I have to disagree with you both. I am not much for Pioneer when it comes to the deck. And as for Sony, don't buy any of their car stereo products, they make great TV's but car audio is not their forte. For the deck I would stick with Kenwood, Alpine, or Clarion. In that order.
For speakers get MB Quartz, Kenwood, or Infinity. Pioneer speakers are ok; make sure you get the premier line of speakers if you do. Also stick with stock sizes like the 6"x9"s in the back and 5"-6" in the doors. |

The reason I suggested Pioneer was because of his budget. If he was looking at adding amps and going high end, then hands down I would agree with your choices of speakers.
As for the deck, everything you suggested are very high quality units (except the Clarion --ewwwww) And all can be had pretty close to the cost of a Pioneer. |

Ya' good point.
If he is going for less exspensive Pioneer is alright, ahd two that went bad on me, but I suspect the actual wiring of the car they were in. And hey I liked my old clarion. It lasted me good seven years before the internal amp died, then just recently I bought the Kenwood MP3 deck. Now what do you think about Blaupunkt? "SP" |

Blaupunkt's quality is rising again. A couple years ago they got caught up in the low price race. ( I think they subleted a lot of product to other manufacturers) Now their quality is rising again, but because of the problems they had earlier, a lot of shops are a little gun shy to carry their product.
Clarion used to make super quality product, but lately that has been slipping. It may be due to trying to spread to too many areas (audio, security, navigation, video) and maybe it's spreading their engineers too thin. |

Ya, the newer Clarion stuff is goin' south. Thus why I bought my Kenwood to replace it.

So what do you guys think of Alpine and Infinity? Someone told me those two are the best money could buy. Is that a load of crap or is that true? Thanx alot! You guys seem to know ALOT about systems.

Alpine is one of the top choices for a lot of people. They build a very good product.
Infinity for home systems is awesome, but for cars, it is not my first choice. Most Infinity speakers (automotive only) have built in amplifiers, thus making it hard to upgrade, or add additional power. When a car manufacturer does a complete Infinity system specifically designed for a vehicle (Grand Cherokee for example) they sound good (not excellent) and the system played properly (not maxed out volume for extended periods of time) will last as long as the vehicle. If you are looking for the best of the best in head units, I would have to say Nakamichi (sp?) is it. |

This is what im planning on:
2- Polk 6.5 inch with 1.5 inch tweeters 2- Polk 6x9 's midrange in the back 2- 12 inch i think i twas MTX? subs in box not enclosed or vented 1- 60 watt sony midrange amp 1- Kenwood 600 watt sub amp all this, with installation for only $1600. Polks are really good, ONLY if you amplify them though. If you play polks on a stock radio, or even new radio without amplifying them, the distortion will kill them. They hunger for power, and when you give it to them, they sound fantastic. Im gonna have a Metal Monster truck now, to drown out all of those damn riced out CRX's and Civics playing rap.
