New to Crx
Just wanted to say hello to the CRX forum. Although I have owned a few I have been more popular in the prelude forum. Since selling it i decided to go with another CRX to build. I picked this one up yesterday. He needs some body work and some heavier interior work but should be a nice weekend project to get back in shape. Just so yall know I am an ASE tech and custom audio/video /security installer. So if you need any tech help hit me up.
I call him PaPa Smurf

Keep the color but nothing else. I will probably do deep tint and run the interior something dark. As for the motor I will probably do a sohc vtec with turbo to keep it light since I have 19" wheels. I will probably have to do wide body and trim the fenders so that I can lower him a little. always looking for ideas so if you have any shoot them at me |

Re: New to Crx
Vtec + Turbo == pointless... just get a cam that's designed for the turbo, since you're going to kill the point of Vtec once you hit boost anyway... Vtec was designed for N/A engines, hence the reason that Honda hasn't boosted one themselves in JDM markets.

But the heads do flow better.

Re: New to Crx
meh, it's marginal, nothing a dremel couldn't do to a N/A head... I'm just saying tho, if you're going to waste your cash, waste it on something that isn't going to be defeated by your next mod.
So IOW, don't bother playing around w/ Vtec settings, other than having switch activated Vtec, so you can change the rev range that it's active in.. Obviously, if you're building a Vtec engine, you're going to get better airflow for the boost when its' in Vtec... so set it up so that you can randomly change the RPM that it kicks at, so you'll be able to tune for better economy in the lower end, (no vtec) and better power when you want it. (Boosted Vtec mode.) Essentially, Vtec and boost WOULD be better for a dual purpose vehicle... but that's about it. PS, play w/ the cam design a bit.. have a mostly n/a or low boost profile for no-vtec, then a profile for Vtec that will accent your boost level.. then put a pressure switch on the solenoid, so that it will kick Vtec when you reach a certain boost level, rather than RPM.. so it won't kick in unless you're at WOT making boost. That's pimp. EDIT: Another thing. If you decide you wanna go w/ B-series, Endyn (theoldone.com) will soon be selling versions of B-series head cores that they designed in partnership w/ another company, the loaded cores will run something close to $900, but they're optimized using EnDyn's years of leadership and engine building skills. They will have two styles, the GSR "quench pad" head, and the normal B16, and all standard non-GSR intakes will fit either head. (they aren't making a GSR intake-style head.) |
