97 Gtp Starts Without Key
97 GTP starts without a key in the ignition. I can just turn the ignition like the key is in there and it starts. Can’t turn the ignition back to the stop position. I can push it in but can’t go to the last click. The shift indicator lights in the dash stay on all the time. I can move the shifter anywhere I want any time I want I think it might be the shift lock release because the button was stuck in the release position. But I some how popped it up and it looks to be in proper alignment. This forum has helped many times so I’m laying it in you’re lap once again.

Re: 97 Gtp Starts Without Key
BNaylor thanks for all the effort you put into this forum. Do you have directions that detail how to change out a tumbler?

Re: 97 Gtp Starts Without Key
Thanks for the compliment. We have a procedure posted at Tips & Maintenance to replace the ignition switch and harness but it should cover the part of getting to the key cylinder. Just do the part applicable to the key cylinder. Good luck.
