tranny fluid
my gears grind every now and then and living in wisconsin, i think its just the tranny fluid being too thick in the cold. i use 80W-90 by the way. i heard that you can use pennzoil's syncromesh cause its thinner. but does is dissipate heat well? i dont want my tranny to blow cause of heat. either that or my syncs' are bad.

I think syncromesh is a pretty good bet. I'd give it a shot, if its still grinding then better start looking for a new tranny.

 Build on hold until I get a good paying job, either in school or once I get out. At that time a full tear down and complete rebuild should be in order. The Purple People Eater will ride again... January 2011 can't come soon enough.

Royal Purple baby. Agree with Thor , when you have a grind new fluids is only a cover up fix and the problem will still be there and continue to get worse. Also if you romp and mash and pop the gears a lot then I would suggest a shock absorbing fluid from a race shop.

What motor do you have? The 420a trannies cant take anything but stock fluid in them. Anything else can mess up the syncros. Not sure if that applies to the autos.

Pennzoil Syncromesh is the recommended fluid for covering up any gear grinding and for harder driving... It's some good stuff...
