95 CV front brakes

I am still learning about this car, so bear with me here
Was rotating the tires and checking the brakes, which need to be replaced on the front. My question is about the front hub and bearings. It appears to me that this is a totally sealed unit? There was very little grease when I took the grease cap off, but the bearing looked like a sealed bearing, and everywhere I look online the hub/bearings come as one unit. I don't really want to replace the whole thing as a PM if it will cost that much. I was hoping it would just be a matter of taking the hub off and checking/repacking the bearings, but would it hurt to add a little grease under the cap before putting it back on? I have not done that yet as the front wheels need to come off here next week for brakes, and thought I would ask the forum what the deal is with these Crown Vics.
Otherwise this car is fun to drive, even though the wife thinks I look like an old man

The hub and bearing are serviced as an assembly. I would not add any grease inside the cap. All that will happen is it will msling the grease out and get all over the wheels. The hub/bearing assembly is not that expensive if you want to repalce them yourself. Good luck with it.

I guess my next question would be is, can these rotors be turned on a lathe?
I would worry about shavings getting in the bearings during the turning process. Or are they considered a throw away?
Also, what is up with the lock nut? Does it turn off like a normal one and do you tighten it like "old school" where we would get em tight and back off a little bit.

You can either turn the rotors on or off the car without worries of anything getting in the bearings. The cap will keep dirt and shavings out. Just remove the caliper and caliper holding bracket and the rotors will slide off the hub. No on the tightening of the nut. There is a torque spec that it needs tightened to and no back off is required. Here is info from repair manual----Use a new hub nut and tighten to 189-254 ft lb .
