Polishing paint vs top coat
Hey all,
I'm curious about a situation that's come up. I'm building the Xanavi Z which is half metallic and half solid color. I know that one needs to top coat the metallic before polishing. So, would you guys lay down a few coats of clear, polish, then decal and add more clear? Or, would you put decals directly on the paint, do all the clear you need and then polish? I'd appreciate any and all input! Thanks! Daniel |

Re: Polishing paint vs top coat
it depends on the quality of you're basecoats. If those are even, i don't see the point in clearing it before you decal it. Perhaps for the ultimate shine it's better, but I don't think it's necesarry.

Well, there is a bit of orange peel. (It's Tamiya rattle cans, so what can you expect?) I know regardless there will be polishing, so I was just curious as to when. Yes, I'm a perfectionist...hee hee hee...
