Does the chassis plate number have anything to do w/ the car number?

My plate shows PGTRA026. Does this have anything to do with my car number? All my documentation says that it is Sebring car #35 and was turned into Penske promo car #15. It has the Australian Falcon 5.0 in it w/ the flipped intake manifold, so that should mean it's a Sebring car.

Re: Does the chassis plate number have anything to do w/ the car number?

We have been trying to track down info on the chassis numbers actually. It's rather complicated, and apparently was undocumented at the time they were built. For instance, the first chassis built at Panoz was for car #6 (and that's only from memory!) and since that is a chassis number from Panoz that would have probably been PGTRA001. Then the women's series (pro) cars were built with PGTWC001 - 024 numbers as a separate run of chassis numbers. It seems like the first batch of GTRA's was a total of 24 (and little known, but the last one was an AUTOMATIC! built for people taking the school that were challenged by a manual - was later converted). So, on that assumption, the chassis numbers on the Sebring batch would have *probably* started with 20 when you take away the first 5 chassis... Well, this is getting way too deep for the limited info I have - but your chassis number seems accurate for your car number! We're working on getting that info figured out

Re: Does the chassis plate number have anything to do w/ the car number?

When I was up at Road Atlanta buying the remainder of the Series cars and parts( which I have 2 cars left to sell if anyone is interested ) last Thursday I was informed and also shown a cross-over sheet where the series cars ( and I also beleive the school cars ) were changed around over the last few years....You may have a car that started out as car number 6 but was changed over to car number 11 at sometime...That is why you really have to be careful with the log book information and I wouldn't put much value on what is in them past 3 months ago....As the school and the series was winding down they simpley did what they had to do to put cars out on the track...Also for anyone wanting the BBS wheels that the school cars ran I have a good supply of those,Some of the new tires, new Koni Shocks, brake rotors and so forth....
Thanks Gary
