Clear Coats

Just wondering about clear coats do i put it over clear parts as well like the windscreen. Cause i don't have much experience with it i did it once but the clear parts actually blured and arn't shinny anymore. I use tamiya piants and tamiya clear coat.
Another thing can i use other stuff as clear coat cause tamiya paints are really expensive here i live in Australia.

Don't clearcoat clear plastics. Can cause hazing or worse.

dont ever clear coat clear parts! I suggest using laquer clear coats in spray cans available in hardware stores, theyre much much cheaper

I guess ur really new ay Modeling huh? Well u should never clear coat clear parts, they will make it blurry and not see through anymore,lol. You'll make it non-clear. Only Clear coat paint jobs, mostley Metallic Paint Jobs. But once i was new at modeling too, so.... no shame, no shame....

Clear coating the clear parts is a little too advanced technique, and not recommended unless you know how. It's fairly common in 1/43 scale resin, but it's not that common in plastic model making. Just glue the clear parts after body is done.

Actually, you can safely clearcoat small clear parts like headlight lenses, headlight and taillight covers, etc. but not recommended for windshields. Aircraft modelers use Future gloss coats on canopies to give them more depth. I personally use Future on small clear parts to give it more depth and 'blend' in with the car body (seal the gap sorta....). Hope this helps.
