GTO vs MK 7

Heading down I360 i got caught at a stop light. Perpendicular to me was a red GTO. a newer one, probably with the LS6. His light changed and he turned down 360, the direction I was heading. I heard him get on, and hear the raspy tone from an after market exhaust. Unfortunately I got stuck at the light waiting for on-coming cars making their left turn. No way I was catching up to him. I take off from the light, and no sign of the GTO. Must be light years ahead by now. Go over the rolling hills on 360, and head down a 2 mile hill into Broadus' Flats. I can see the GTO about 3 miles ahead. I briskly accellerate down the hill, and cruise at 120 and liesurely catch up to the GTO.

I pace him at about 70, middle age guy, probably doesnt want to play. He falls back a car length, and slowly gets back next to me again. He throws a quick rev, downshifts, and takes off like a bat out of hell. I floor it, but I'm already down 3 car lengths. we take it up to about 120, he has about a 50 yards on me, then we slow back down to 80.. and I catch back up to him again. This time I want to get the hole-shot. We pace eachother at 80 again, and I nail it, and gain 2 lengths, but before I even begin to celebrate, he passes me. and by 130 he has a couple busses on me. hot-damn. I catch back up to him, throw him a thumbs up out the moonroof, and he gets beside me again, revs, and we both take off again. Got to about 100 before I let up. and slow down. I get over in the right lane, behind him, when the light ahead changes to yellow, as I begin to turn into a gas station. FAWK!. Coulda went from a dig. Oh well. I hear him take off from the light, spinnin though 2nd. In conclusion... GTO>M7 from a roll.

Re: GTO vs MK 7

Nice death. However, the GTO's either had a LS1 or a LS2 depending on how new they were. It was the C5 ZO6 that had the LS6.

Same here. Probably about 5 or 6 in my area. Maybe more. People love Chevys around here.

Care to tell me where the heart of the GTO comes from? Chevy...foo!

In all seriousness, around my area, in just about every driveway, you'll find atleast one Chevy if not two for sure.

Re: GTO vs MK 7

I'm seriously looking into one of those Orange GTO's they made in the final year of production. That car is beautiful.
