well.... its time...

my DD (daily driver) is now DD (Definatly Dead) and i'm going to sell it off to a junk yard in the next few days.... anyway, i NEED another car, their is NO WAY IN HELL i'm going to park my DSM in the parking lot at UT (university of Texas) so... i'm looking for something cheap, good on gas, and fun, so BOOM! civic... i'm thinking somewhere between 97-00 but i know NOTHING about them! all i know is i'm not paying $8k for ANYTHING with over 75k miles on it because it says "SI" on it! f that! but i also want a civic that has the power windows, locks, and sunroof... not to mention.... the ability to be boosted with the T25 so i guess what i'm asking is i know some of you guys have a little knowlege about hondas, and i was looking for a little input because all these D16, B16C6, blah, blah, blah is killing me! i swear in the last week, i have seen more civics with engins that are out of different cars then i have seen civics with the OEM engine.... whatever B, or D, or F, or C that block is... and i'm getting lost....think just a normal civic EX will do it? can anyone get me some Honduh advice?

i noticed that some of them have the intake going down into the intake manifold, and some have them just like the 4G63... whats the difference? both motors look the same... also, will a SOHC be a smart decision? (only owned DOHC DSM's since 16 years old...)

EDIT: what the hell, i'm going to hate myself for this, but what are all the "Powerfull" motors honduh makes that can be swapped into the 97-00 civic? and whats the difference between them? just... for information... i dont wanna go asking the honduhs because all the buzzing makes my head hurt...

Re: well.... its time...

Dont boost your Civic, theres no sense making your 17 sec DD into a 14 sec DD when you have a perfectly good DSM to work on. That said, get whatever Civic you can with whatever bells and whistles you want and drive that slow POS and be happy about it.

Re: well.... its time...

Ok... the blue book value on a 2000 Civic EX with 96k is around $6400. Why would someone with that built of a car be selling it for half of what the blue book value is? The supercharger alone damn near cost that much. Not to mention 10:1 pistons on 9 lbs of boost? Even if that were true, unless hes running some really good gas on a daily basis, that motor is half eaten at best, that is no pump gas operation particularly since there is no h20/meth injector or intercooling. Not to mention who has that built of a motor and has over half of his modlist gay ass things like oil fill caps and dipstick HAS to be a tool. I'd go look at it, but its the same as in the other thread, its way too good to be true.... I cant even imagine the problems you would undoubtedly have with that car.

Re: well.... its time...

Just get the civic and leave it stock. When a lil ricer asks you to race and you have the eclipse close by, say "wait for me 10 minutes," arrive with the GST and just spank 'em.

Re: well.... its time...

Your best bet is a completely unmodded Honda/Acura, or a Toyota. I would personally go with a Civic, hands down. My 2000 DX auto has bailed me out every single time when my DSM or 3000GT have been in the shop. It has 170K on the stock motor and tranny, and is runnung like a dream. I won't be winning any drag races in it any time soon, but nothing beats peace of mind.
