Engine cuts out at 3000rpm....
This evening my 2001 Limited Convertible, 2.7 engine, was a bit hesitant to start. Once started I pulled onto the highway and as I accelerated the engine hit approximately 3000 RPM and started missing, much like it would when running out of gas, and the check engine light came on. Let off the accelerator and the engine smoothed out. I accelerated and it started missing again. Kept the rpm below 3000 and limped home. Made it home, put the car in park and brought the rpm's up slowly, engine ran smoothly until 2800 rpm and started missing again. Engine would continue to miss as long as I maintained 2800 rpm. Was afraid to take it above 2800 rpm to see if the engine would smooth back out for fear it might mess something up. Repeated the procedure several times and it consistantly started missing at 2800 rpm. Killed the engine, let it sit for a few minutes in case it might be an electrical problem that might reset, started it up and brought the rpms up slowly again and this time it didn't start missing until 4000rpm. Idled back down, slowly brought rpm's up again and like clockwork the engine started missing at 4000rpm. Haven't had time to check the codes. Anyone have any idea what might be going on????

Re: Engine cuts out at 3000rpm....
Pulled the computer code this morning and it's telling me I have a problem with the Cam Shaft Sensor Circuit. Will replace the Cam Shaft Sensor and see if that fixes the problem. Will post an update if this does NOT fix the problem.

Re: Engine cuts out at 3000rpm....
It's been two weeks since I changed out the cam sensor and that seems to have fixed the problem...
