h22 in a crx?

Is an h22 a better swap over a b16 or a b18 i know its a bigger engine but someone told me its slow off the line and that the headers will bottom out easy just wondering. I think im going to buy just a block off ebay or something and build the whole engine up myself so its all beefed up for nos and Turbo, But What engine do you think i should go with in a 88 rex? Thanks for your help

H22 in a CRX = Worst handling car ever. Most people who do an h22 swap in a CRX usually make it a drag only car.

Well judging by your interest on h22s u must want alot of power. I'd go straight b20 then turbocharge it later.

Best answer so far. I agree completely with Marc, if your wish to just have a drag car, H22 is probably fine. I think Frostee on here has a H22 in his car, might want to hit him up about it. But if you want to be able to turn, start looking into a diff motor.

if u want just sick power right of way(stock) then i'd suggest b20/vtec. if you wanna build an engine to be a monster, the best engine to do almost anything to is the b18c.

It depends whether you want that car to be daily driven or mainly drag.... daily driven, i'd go with the b18.... but for max drag potentials, i dont think any of them compare to the h22, you can still drive it around town and all, just slow down around sharp corners and up your suspensions as much as you can like from the 2nd gen tegs or aftermarket....

Thanks for the advice guys i still cant decide i want as much power as i can get but i love hugging corners, Whats the max hp with a completely built up all motor b18c and a h22 does the weight of the h22 motor itself make a big difference?

What everyone is trying to say, is that if you want a lot of power, but at the same time, you want tight handling, then you should build an engine that weighs less. The H22 engine is a heavy engine, and what happens is with all that weight in the front of your car resting right over the wheels, your car will understeer. That simply means that your car will turn less than you would expect it to when you turn the wheel.

If you are looking for tight handling, then this is not the engine for you because you will have to turn the wheel further to get the same turn, which takes time, and when you are driving at high speeds, you don't have much time to react as it is.

A built B18C will perform just fine for you. In your quest for power, something to consider: There was a drag car that had an engine that was a Chevy block, and an acura head. Granted, it runs Nitro-Methane (or is it Nitro-Methanol? I don't remember exactly.), it puts out an astounding 4000hp at the wheels. This is 1000hp per cylinder, which by the way, is a lot When it comes to extracting horsepower, it all comes down to the quality and price of the products you wish to use, and how long you want it to last.
