Talking 1998 Ford Contour Coolant Light On

I am having an issue today with my car.. It ran perfect last night and then this morining I turned it on and the Low coolant light came up in my dash board.. I immediately turned off the car poped the hood and the coolant level is just below MAX line... So I am not sure what is wrong with my car.. I just used my other car to come to work. I sure do not want to ruin my engine like that.. Any help or tips will be apreciated

thanks

John

Thanks everyone for all your help.. I only added one cup of water to where my reservoir tank was a little over the Max line like explained in the Fordcontour.org website and it worked the light is off..

thanks

John
