Year identification

I have bought a 1999/2000 GMC blazer lt 4x4 with a 4.3l Vortec engine and autobox, however I need to get a workshop manual for it and have seen that the 1999 manuals consist of 3 books but the 2000 year manuals are a set of 5.
How can I identify exactly what year I need. The issue is that over here in the uk no one really knows what is what and although it was originally sold over here (in right hand drive form as well) from the dealership they no longer sell them. This is causing a bit of a problem with parts sourcing, is the blazer the same as an S10? Sorry if this sounds very stupid but I need to know before I start ordering the wrong things.

Re: Year identification

10th digit of the VIN tells the year. If its a 2000 that digit should be a Y. Not sure of the 99 letter. Just so you know, its either a chevy blazer or gmc jimmy and the chevy s10/gmc sonoma is a pickup truck that uses the same drivetrain as the blazer. hope that helps you.

Re: Year identification

There should be a vehicle stamp on the drivers side door jamb as well. Look right under where the lock is on the body of the car inside the driver door area. That should actually indicate the year and other information about the vehicle.

Re: Year identification

On the 10th diget X is a 99 and Y is for 2000.

Not sure where you are getting parts or if the can decode vin But.
A lot of USA parts places can decode the vin no for the right parts.

On the 3 different books they may be seperated like electrical or body or engine and trans or other.

You might Try for a complete repair manual on a CD or a All data one line sub.
All data will run you 24.95$ US dollars a year.
