95 Riv. Battery Vent Tubes broken

The vent tubes for my battery (located in the backseat)are all cracked and broken up. When looking for a place to buy new ones, I discovered that I can't even find a place that sells the battery for this model. Any ideas? It is my understanding that these vents are pretty important for safety.

I would check with the dealer for the vent tubes. You are correct about the battery though. If you are looking for a direct replacement you must get it from a GM dealer that sells AC Delco batteries. AC Delco is the only manufacturer of that style battery. Having said that I am pretty sure I have read about people going to those gel cell batteries or whatever they are called. It is not a direct fit, but close enough from what I remember. I am just going to keep buying the AC Delco for as long as I can get away with it.

PS: Here is a thread I started when I was looking for a battery a long time ago:

Napa has a battery for that car, with the proper vent tube attaching points.

Check your local hardware stores for "Tygon" tubing with the correct ID to fit over the vent tube on the battery. If you don't have any luck where you live, send me a PM with the O.D. of the battery vent tube and I will pick up some and send it to at my cost.I do take PayPal!

Re: 95 Riv. Battery Vent Tubes broken

I replaced mine with a gel type battery (optima brand). These are non-vented so you can toss the tubing. You will need a slightly longer negative cable and modify the hold down bracket as these are narrower. Lots of Riv owners have gone this route ...
