Cylinder Head interchange
Hello there was just wondering if anyone out there knows if you can interchange a 2.8l V6 Oldsmobile cylinder head with a chevy? Do they bolt up or are they different. And what years are the same as a '78. Thanks

Re: Cylinder Head interchange
Do you mean 2.8 or 3.8???
The General Motors 2.8 liter V6 was used by all divisions, so an Olds V6 head is the same as a Chevy V6 and will interchange, up to about 1988 (I think) After this the heads were aluminum. However, this engine was first used in mid - 1979, for the 1980 model year. If your Oldsmobile is a 1978 model, then you have a Buick 3.8 V6, (231cubic inch) which IS different from the Chevy 3.8 V6. (229 cubic inch) |
