2000 honda accord headlights

i just got my fenders replaced, but i told the body shop not to put in the headlights, because i am planning to do it myself. On of my headlights busted, so i needed to buy a new one. i want to know how hard is it to install the new headlight, what tools i need, and the steps i need to do; i.e. take off bumper? or is it just simply placing it back in and screwing it back together

Tools needed: ratchet wrench and maybe a screwdriver

Installing the headlights is fairly easy. The only hard part may be getting a good angle on the bolts holding the bottom of the housing. If you don't have a deep well socket wrench then you'll see why. The other bolts are on the outer corner and along the top.

To get to all that, you have to remove the bumper pretty much all the way. There are screws in the wheel well and gromets along the top of the grille space. Its easier to maneuver your hands/wrench if you remove the entire front bumper instead of just loosening one side... believe me. The bumper is also attached to the plastic skid plate beneath the engine. In my experience its way easier to leave them attached and kinda let the bumper hang off it. Trying to remove the gromets and replace them later has always ended in me losing them. And then this happens...



Also be aware of the loose metal frame that rests beneath the lights. I've seen some guys remove it, but their bumpers sag beneath their lights and it looks ugly imo. Its worth the added hassle of positioning the frame properly to keep the bumper gap to a minimum.



Side note: To replace your fenders they didn't need to remove your headlights... at least they shouldn't have. The bolts holding the fender in place are accessible under the hood.

Yea it's pretty easy. Just do it slow, don't rush. When you getting a new headlight, if you want, try to get the Original one if possible. Staley brand last very long (that's OE stuff.) The knock off ones will turn yellow after a year or two. Another issue that you might face is the light's alignment. They are pretty easy to adjust. It just take some time to align it. Simply turning the knobs behind the housing. OE headlight will come with the green liquid alignment device.
