engine light

hello, i have a 2003 v8 and recently my engine light has turned on. i reset the gas cap and the light went off after a few days. the car went in for service with no issues. now, about month later, the engine light has come back on. i keep trying to reset the gas cap thinking it was the problem, but no such luck. the car seems to run fine, highway, etc. i just dont know if i should disregard it or not. any suggestions?

also, can anyone tell me how to change the backup light bulbs? thank you.

Re: engine light

Welcome to the forum!

As for the check engine light, swing by your local auto parts store. Most of the chain parts stores will read your OBD-II generic codes at no cost. Get the exact code number and post back here for suggestions. Don't necessarily trust the part guy's interpretation of the code.

Re: engine light

thanks shorod. i actually just got a recall notice for my 'wheels' so i may be going back to the dealer sooner than i think. i guess they werent heat treated so the rims can crack around the lug nuts. at least thats what they told me.

do you know how to get at the backup lights to change a bulb?

Re: engine light

The P0107 and P0108 are opposites of each other. One indicates a BARO/MAP sensor voltage too low, the other indicates the same voltage was too high. The P0133 indicates your heated oxygen sensor in Bank 1, sensor 1 location was slow to respond. All three of these codes could be caused by the same source. The trick will be determining the cause.

If you have a datalogger for your car, now would be a good time to dust it off and try it out.

Re: engine light

hi, i dont have one. i actually had the dealer fix one of the codes. p0108 i think. after, the light came back on with p0107 (or vice versa). i picked up the car, drove about a mile and the light came back on. had it checked at autozone and they came up with code p0133 (o2 sensor). the next day the light went off and has been off for about 5 days now. so i really dont know if i have a problem, was it even fixed, or what. frustrating...
