Key for Equinox
I went to have an extra key made for my 2005 Equinox. It will unlock the door but won't turn in the ignition. Am I missing something here? Is there a sensor or something inside the key?

Re: Key for Equinox
One I had made at Walmart, one at Lowe's. They each have a different head on them, meaning they used a different number key. Both unlock the doors but neither will turn the ignition.

Re: Key for Equinox
they SHOULD turn in the ignition, but neither of those keys will ever start the vehicle. the lock cylinder is mechanical, and the chip has no effect on this but the chip in the original key that is read when key is turned telling computer is ok to start. would take keys back and get money refunded. sadly, this is a dealer thing, and will have to be programmed there too. probably not a bad idea to keep one though in your wallet, in case keys are locked in car and no onstar.
