Question car shut off

I have a 93 berretta and while driving it shut off and won't start back up, just turn over. I don't know much about cars, I thought it was the coil pack and had a used one in the truck but no tools , so I sit the used one on top of the old one and placed all of the wires and plug ups on it and it still didn't crank, do the mount have to but grounded to the motor for it to work ,also, open to any suggestion as to what the problem might be.

Re: car shut off

Can you verify you are getting spark??? The ignition module (flat module the coils sit on) is very common for failure but also the crank sensor is common as is a bad fuel pump. You should check for strong blue fire that will jump 2-3" plus, and if that is good then check fuel pressure for 40lbs or more pressure. The crank sensor can fail and that is what tells the car to spark and when.
