Heater not working.

The engine (3800 Series II V6, non supercharged) has been running extremely hot lately and I found that the water pump is dripping, so I think that's the problem.

Now, before I diagnosed the problem I tried using the heater to get heat away from the engine to cool it down a little and the heater isn't working. Are these problems related? Thanks.

Re: Heater not working.

possibly, if you are low on the coolant or if the pump is bad to the point it's not circulating through the heater core - which is located under the dash. Have you noticed a film on the inside of your windshield? Your heater core might also be leaking.

I just replaced my water pump a few months ago - what a pain in the neck.

Oh, I thought I finished this thread with my conclusion. Here it is: The water pump was the problem and after that got changed out and the coolant refilled to normal, the heater worked. Yay!
