tempture gauge
I have a 1995 chevy cavalier that i just purchase and put a new long block engine in it. When the car is running the gauge is reading way over half maybe about three foruth can somebody tell me where the guage suppose to read.

usually around 1/4 to 1/2. assuming you replaced water pump and all that when long block went in, was the system bled correctly?

3/4ths is completely normal if you're just sitting in the same spot

can be any of the following...
bad sensor, water pump, air in system, thermostat. Most likely air in the system. Mine ran 1/2 ( 195) in normal temps 3/4 during the summer at a stop light with the fan running pretty much all the time.
