Revell Viper GTS

Hey folks, this is almost "finished". This is my first model ever, Revell 1:25 Viper GTS, I got it as a gift so I figured I'd practice on it. Currently, waiting a few more days so I can polish the clear coat, not sure how much difference that will make, but I guess I'll find out. Also, sidemirrors not on yet etc etc. I gotta say, the fitment on this kit is pretty sorry, I had a hard time with it. Not a good kit for a beginner! The hood/bumper fitment is just atrocious. But overall, I'm pretty happy with it for what it is-- some good practice. I'm most proud of the black window trim which I painted by hand without masking or tape. I'm already anxious to do my second kit (tamiya supra!).

If I could get the ride height to look good I'd be completely satisfied. Anyone who's done this kit out there who can give me some pointers on how to lower it, it'd be appreciate it. The stock stance is disgusting. EDIT: The body pieces are not glued down yet so I'll still be trying to position it better or maybe even sand some bits to fit. Anyway here goes:

The viper kit has a serious fitting problem, so it takes a careful dry fit to make it look right.
Anyway, the viper employs the double wishbone suspension, so you just bend the A-arms upward, so that the wheel hub sits higher, and shorten the shock that supports the lower A-arm.

After this model, you will love the Supra kit.

Thanks hiro, I will look into your method, as just having it lowered even slightly would make it look 100 times better. Yeah, and I agree with you, just fiddling around with the supra pieces it seems like it will be a "piece of cake" compared with this viper! Hopefully anyway.

what? i made mine(including paint and clear coat) in less than 24 hours! and it lo0oked great

supercar_man: Here's a picture of the box And actually, I've already clear coated it :silly2: I've edited the first pic that shows more of the 'reflective-ness' of the paint. I've been told that metallic paints aren't as reflective so I'm happy with the way it looks, if looks better after I polish it, that would just be gravy. Thanks for looking!

That looks great for your first model! I agree the bonnet on this kit and the suspension are very bad but its not the case with all Revell kits so don't put them off your list. They just need more work then Tamiyas, you will find a couple of the very good modellers on this site will make more Revells compared to Tamiyas and they make them look awesome! Take Murco as the best example of this, anyway I hope you get taht beast sitting right, can we get some engine shots?
